The project is devoted to the issues of sustainable development in the maritime sector. It applies to all kinds of companies
and institutions operating in this field of economy. Modern companies must constantly change taking into account the
dynamic changes in the global market. This is even more true for entities involved in maritime transport, which is responsible
for approximately 80% of the global volume of goods transported. The changing economic environment, as well as climate
change, inequality of opportunities, etc. caused that people began to think about developing certain rules and setting the
direction for further development of enterprises. In 1992, in Rio de Janeiro, 178 countries signed the Agenda 21 document,
which included the first assumptions regarding building responsible partnerships towards sustainable development. In 2000,
eight Millennium Development Goals were set, including more emphasis on multilateral partnerships. The SDGs assume the
fight against inequalities, poverty, lack of access to education, all kinds of discrimination, etc. It is also very important to care
for the environment, peace and mutual respect and cooperation. A detailed list of individual SDGs is available at

The analysis of world literature on the implementation of SDGs in maritime transport has shown that there is a very serious
problem in this sector. Attention is focused mainly on caring for the environment, which of course is reflected in the SDGs,
specifically in SDG14 (Life below water). Xueqin Wang et al.show that SDG3 (good health and well-being), SDG8 (decent
work and economic growth) and SDG11 (sustainable cities and communities) are taken into account to a lesser extent.
Sciberras and Silva attributed the lack of study to the slow response of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in
implementing SDGs, as no particular SDG is explicitly addressing the maritime sector. Summing up we have 17 SDGs and
all of them must be taken into account.
So, the aim of the project is to develop some tools supporting sustainable development in maritime sector. SUDEMAR will
have three core outputs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
