Author: United Nations – Framework Convention on Climate Change
Abstract: At COP28 in Dubai, held from November 30 to December 12, 2023, countries agreed on a roadmap to transition away from fossil fuels, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050. The agreement calls for tripling global renewable energy capacity and doubling the annual rate of energy efficiency improvement by 2030. It highlights the need to accelerate zero- and low-carbon technologies, such as renewables, nuclear energy, carbon capture, and low-carbon hydrogen, while reducing methane and other non-CO2 emissions.
